The icon is a way back in
A Home Screen or desktop app entry helps you open the game directly. It is useful when you want ORBIT available alongside your other apps, but it is not an ORBIT account or an assurance that every required file has downloaded.
You can also play from the game address without creating an installed entry. Choose installation for convenience, then verify the resulting launch. If the icon opens a page you did not expect, check whether you added the information website instead of the actual game.
The cache supplies the game
The offline shell contains the program files, artwork, fonts and supported cached audio needed for disconnected use. ORBIT prepares it through a service worker after an online visit. Test a fresh disconnected launch to find out whether that setup works in your chosen context.
An update replaces the cached release after the old game windows close. This is normal maintenance of the game files. A cache is browser-managed storage, so an old successful test should not be treated as a lifetime promise of offline access.
The save records what you earned
Personal bests, cleared-gap progress and preferences are stored separately in local storage when it is available. ORBIT does not upload those values to a player account. Opening an intact game in another browser can therefore show fresh progress despite having identical artwork and controls.
When troubleshooting, name the missing thing precisely: icon, offline launch or records. Avoid treating clear all site data as a universal repair. It can affect both cached files and saved progress, and downloaded game files cannot recreate discoveries that existed only in deleted storage.
